About the role
The Utility Technician ensures proper operation of all auxiliary systems in support of production operations. The Utility Mechanic supports a rotating 24/7 shift rotation.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the licensed on-shift Utility Technician ensuring proper operation of low- and high-pressure boilers as well as refrigeration plant.
- Report issues and conditions to the Utilities Engineer.
- Conduct chemistry analysis/adjustments and blowdowns of the steam generating system.
- Document boiler conditions hourly in logbooks.
- Support the duty Shift Leader and his team by taking routine logs and performing adjustments to maintain Compressed air and air-dryer systems.
- Cooling tower systems
- Waste Water systems
- Refrigerated ammonia systems
- Nitrogen generation systems
- Plant water systems and boiler feed systems
- Periodic inspection of fire systems
- Perform small equipment or component maintenance.
- Perform lubrication and other routine preventative maintenance.
- Perform troubleshooting in support of the on-shift team for emergency problems or repairs.
- Maintain 5S standards of assigned areas and systems.
- Coincide with shift operators and shift leader to tag-out systems for immediate or follow-on corrective maintenance.
Requirements
- Blue Seal Boiler License required.
- Blue Seal Refrigeration License preferred.
- Industrial wastewater treatment system (N license) preferred.
- Willing to pursue Red Seal Boiler and Refrigeration License if sponsored and assigned by the company.
- Basic mechanical knowledge of compressed air, air-drying, cooling water, ammonia refrigeration, wastewater and fire-fighting systems.
- Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Compliance: Working knowledge of industry regulations - local, state, Federal - Environmental, Safety (OSHA), USCG, Quality/Food Safety; BRC; HACCP
Qualifications
- Formal certification or relevant technical/associate degree, or 5+ years of experience in Maintenance/Manufacturing/Engineering/Operations
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the US
- Must be willing to work 12-hour nights shift, and overtime when applicable
Skills
- Basic mechanical knowledge of compressed air, air-drying, cooling water, ammonia refrigeration, wastewater and fire-fighting systems.
- Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.

Pay
Hourly Rate: $32
Possible Bonus: 5%
Schedule
Hourly Rate: 12-hour nights shift, and overtime when applicable
