Responsibilities
- Schedule and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on water and wastewater pipelines.
- Operate heavy and light equipment for repairs, such as backhoes, frontend loaders, shoring equipment, and dump trucks.
- Perform CCTV/video inspections to check the flow, restrictions, and integrity of sewer main lines and manholes.
- Operate a jet and/or vacuum combo unit to clean sewer main lines and remove debris.
- Monitor and maintain water main line valves, and repair or replace damaged valve boxes and manholes.
- Perform fire hydrant flushing, maintenance, and scheduled fire flows.
- Perform air-vacuum valve maintenance and grease/oil interceptor inspections for local businesses.
- Follow and prepare standard operating procedures.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment and assess equipment condition for asset management.
- Obtain quotes for equipment procurement and budgetary planning.
- Perform shop, equipment, and yard maintenance.
- Assist with the utilities on-call rotation to respond to after-hour emergencies.
Requirements
- Utility Maintenance Specialist I: High School diploma or GED. No prior experience required.
- Utility Maintenance Specialist II: High School diploma or GED; one year of experience in utility maintenance and repair work.
- Utility Maintenance Specialist III: High School diploma or GED; three years of experience in utility maintenance and repair work, preferably in water and wastewater operations.
Qualifications
- Utility Maintenance Specialist I: Valid Colorado Class B Commercial Driver's License with a safe driving record and tanker and air brake endorsement, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Utility Maintenance Specialist II: Valid Colorado Class A Commercial Driver's License with a safe driving record. Required: Class I Water Distribution Certification or Class I Sewer Collection Certification.
- Utility Maintenance Specialist III: Valid Colorado Class A Commercial Driver's License with a safe driving record. Required: Class II Water Distribution Certification or Class II Sewer Collection Certification.
Skills
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and safety regulations related to vehicle operations and general construction tools.
- Ability to operate heavy and light utility equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic mathematical calculations and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently.

Pay
- Utility Maintenance Specialist I: $22.75 - $30.03/hr
- Utility Maintenance Specialist II: $28.83 - $38.06/hr
- Utility Maintenance Specialist III: $30.85 - $40.72/hr
Schedule
- Varying schedules and shifts may be required.
- May work overtime as needed.
