Utility Line - Nights

The Arcadia, WI location employs approximately 500 team members and works with 150 local growers.

About the role

The Utility Line position is responsible for producing quality grade products for our customers. This role operates on the night shift with a starting pay of $23.28/hour plus a $1.50 shift differential.

Responsibilities

• Remove WOG (whole bird) from the Deli Line and inspect for proper stringing.
• Adjust strings as needed for final trussing.
• Grab truss and stretch it over the WOG’s back and around the two hocks.
• Place WOG breast-up on the big belt once properly trussed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Grasp WOG wing tips and tuck them under and behind the back side of the bird.
• Identify and remove one leg from the shackle for downgraded product.
• Place a truss string around both wings on the backside of the WOG.
• Place inserts into boxes if required and weigh boxes for appropriate weight.
• Observe equipment operation and notify personnel of malfunctions or safety issues.
• Inspect bags for defects such as holes or foreign material.
• Label boxes with the correct product label and ensure proper placement.
• Place boxes under product chutes and ensure cases are within box guides.
• Open the chute by pressing the red button to drop WOGs into the box one by one.
• Remove cases from the conveyor onto a skate conveyor for further prepping.
• Inspect product boxes for damages to the case, liner, or label.
• Prepare boxes for the CVP machine by lifting the liner, folding box flaps, and aligning the box underneath the machine.
• Activate the CVP machine, inspect the liner, and ensure proper sealing.
• Align cases onto the output conveyor and send them toward the taper machine.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to comprehend simple instructions and apply common sense.
• Ability to work in cool temperatures (around 40 degrees).
• Ability to stand and use hands for 8 to 10 hours per shift.
• Ability to multitask and work quickly.
• Must be a team player and willing to work closely with other employees.
• Good communication skills.
• Capable of learning and remembering product specifications.
• Good hand-eye coordination.
• High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
• Intermediate analytical skills preferred.
• Basic computer skills or a strong willingness to learn preferred.
• Food production experience preferred.
• Desire for continuous improvement preferred.

Pay

$23.28/hour plus a $1.50 shift differential.
