This position is responsible for all operations in their specific area within the food service department.
Responsibilities
- Maintain fixtures and vents within food service areas
- Move and maintain heavy kitchen equipment for deep cleaning
- Assist the Executive Steward with heavy lifting or repairs in stewarding or culinary departments
- Assist stewards with:
- Preparing tableware for washing
- Collecting all soiled pots
- Washing and restacking clean pots on shelves
- Removing garbage and refuse for recycling
- Mopping and sweeping floors
- Properly maintain and distribute company assets
- Set up dishwashing machines
- Stack and store clean dishes in proper kitchen areas
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
- Monitor and ensure quality and efficiency of service at assigned areas
- Report to work on time, well-groomed in full uniform
- Keep work areas clean and organized
- Use proper cleaning chemicals for each task
- Pick up daily checklist for assigned kitchen area
- Prepare tableware for washing (scrape plates, presoak silverware, place items in proper dishwasher racks)
- Set up and maintain dishwashing machines (ensure drains are closed, tanks filled, correct temperatures, proper detergent levels)
- Wash all dishes and kitchen equipment using sprayer nozzles, baskets, conveyors, or by hand
- Dry all objects using cloth or drying oven
- Thoroughly clean dishwashing equipment and all working areas
- Wash walls, ceiling tiles, and sanitize all cooking equipment
- Perform detail cleaning of kitchen and peripheral equipment (ovens, fryers, hot boxes, coolers, etc.)
- Adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies in an ethical manner
- Maintain a neat, professional appearance and uphold company appearance standards
- Maintain a current understanding of information security policies, including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner
- Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers, and staff
- Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to all policies
- Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine months of employment
- Attend all necessary meetings
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Some knowledge of kitchen hoods and electrical systems is a plus
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to speak effectively to the public, employees, and customers
- Ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees
- Ability to resolve problems and conflicts diplomatically
- Understand and comply with policies, procedures, daily memos, chemical labels, and other instructions
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino for extended periods
- Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements (extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises)
- Moderate physical activity required, including handling objects up to fifty (50) pounds
- Work environment involves some exposure to physical risk, requiring following basic safety precautions
- Must be able to work in an environment where smoking is permitted
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud; on the casino floor, noise levels increase to loud
Pay
Starting rate: $16.00 per hour. Compensation is negotiable based on experience and education.
