Utility (Kitchen Steward)

About the Role

The Utility plays a key role in delivering Sonesta's mission of providing exceptional service to both guests and colleagues, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen and dishwashing areas.

Responsibilities

• Operate dishwashing machines to clean dishes, pots, pans, and utensils
• Pre-wash items, load/unload machines, and inspect cleanliness of wares
• Hand-wash kitchen equipment and sanitize surfaces
• Restock cleaned wares and keep workstations organized
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, bar, bathrooms, and service areas
• Remove and properly dispose of trash and recyclables
• Clean and maintain garbage compactor and trash areas
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment per safety guidelines (OSHA)
• Support basic food prep and banquet setup as needed
• Follow all sanitation, health, and safety regulations
• Report on maintenance or safety issues promptly
• Properly store Ecolab solutions and cleaning supplies in designated storage areas

Requirements

• Ability to communicate in basic English
• Ability to count and follow directions
• Physically able to lift, bend, stand, and perform manual tasks in hot, humid environments

Qualifications

• Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience in dishwashing or janitorial roles
• Familiarity with sanitation procedures and chemical handling
• Sanitation certification and/or knowledge of a second language

Schedule

Flexibility to work variable days, including weekends and holidays, is required. Flexibility to work variable shifts (days, nights, overnights) is essential.

Pay

Hourly compensation range is $31.10 - $32.97. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and specific/overall experience.
