Utility

About the Role

This position completes special cleaning projects as assigned, following Hotel specifications and standards. The Utility role involves cleaning and maintaining equipment in Dishwashing, Kitchen, Cafeteria, Compactor, and Storage areas, as well as assisting in other stewarding functions.

Responsibilities

• Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests at all times.
• Maintain positive guest relations and be familiar with hotel services and local attractions to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
• Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
• Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated items, according to OSHA regulations.
• Set up and organize work station with designated supplies and equipment; report shortages to supervisor and replenish as needed.
• Check the working condition of the dishwashing machine; rectify deficiencies and ensure proper chemical levels and temperature settings.
• Organize the breakdown area for dirty wares, remove excess food and debris, and load wares correctly into the dishwashing machine.
• Inspect, sort, stack, and store cleaned wares; rewash items not meeting standards.
• Handle all wares carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
• Change dishwashing machine water/filters and monitor chemical and water usage to maximize efficiency.
• Maintain cleanliness and working condition of garbage disposal and dishwashing machine.
• Clean and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchen equipment; stock kitchen lines with cleaned items.
• Clean spills immediately and use designated chemicals and equipment to clean various floor surfaces.
• Transport and clean mats, maintain supply/storage closets, and remove trash.
• Transport garbage containers to dumpsters, empty and clean them, and adhere to recycling regulations.
• Clean garbage compactor and area as assigned.
• Report damages, maintenance problems, or safety hazards to the supervisor.
• Adhere to all Health Department, sanitation, and safety regulations.
• Organize and restock work areas for the next shift.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent vocational training.
• Previous experience as a hotel/restaurant dishwasher or in a janitorial/cleaning position preferred.
• Familiarity with proper sanitation regulations and knowledge of proper chemical handling.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
