Utility Aide

About the Role

Under the supervision of the cook's supervisor, the Utility Aide cleans dishes, pots, pans, glassware, and silver by hand or machine. Responsibilities include maintaining the dishwasher, changing water, and cleaning frequently. The Utility Aide fills out dish temperature logs, transports tableware to proper places in dining rooms and kitchen, and cleans work areas. Additional duties may involve assisting in cutting, peeling, and washing fruits and vegetables for cooks, pushing carts into various dining areas, setting food on steam tables, removing garbage from kitchen areas, and thoroughly sweeping, mopping, and hosing down floors at the end of the evening shift.

Responsibilities

• Clean dishes, pots, pans, glassware, and silver by hand or machine
• Maintain and clean the dishwasher, including changing water frequently
• Fill out dish temperature logs
• Transport tableware to dining rooms and kitchen
• Clean work areas, including sweeping, mopping, and hosing down floors
• Assist in cutting, peeling, and washing fruits and vegetables
• Push carts into dining areas and set food on steam tables
• Remove garbage from kitchen areas

Requirements

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English
• Ability to operate dishwashing machines and other required equipment
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both individually and as part of a team
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand and walk short distances for most of the shift, including stooping, reaching, pushing, lifting/carrying, and stacking supplies frequently
• Ability to withstand temperature changes when entering and exiting refrigeration/freezer walk-ins
• Strong customer service skills and an interest in working with the elderly
