Utility - 3rd Shift

About the Role

Utility Persons fill in throughout the Converting or Corrugator departments in entry-level positions. This role is based at our Lexington SC Box Facility, 129 Zenker Road, Lexington, SC 29072, with a pay rate starting at $20.91/hr. (probationary) up to $23.28/hr. A sign-on bonus of $500 is offered after 30 days and another $500 after 6 months. The shift is 8 hours on the 3rd shift (11 pm - 7 am).

Responsibilities

Converting:

• Works at the direction of the operator.
• Obtains required waste dunnage for top and bottom protector sheets for units.
• Obtains required load tags for correct order identification.
• Makes ready the load former for production run.
• Assists helper and operator in housekeeping tasks.
• Assists in clearing machine jams when necessary.
• Completes Helper’s duties when appropriate or instructed.
• Performs the “Top Box per Unit” quality check, inspecting for defects like glue joint, print quality, folding scores, and board quality.

Corrugator:

• Operates the control panel for the down stacker.
• Makes designated quality checks on all orders, including checks for multiple outs.
• Reports any non-conforming specs to the Knife Operator.
• Discards waste from paper changes and defects observed during the run.
• Moves plastic tubes into place to receive stacks of sheets.
• Properly marks each stack of sheets with correct identification.
• Releases loads for the stock handler.
• Maintains good housekeeping.
• Reports safety hazards and unsafe acts to the department supervisor.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Machine Operator experience preferred; strong knowledge of machines in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Team-oriented and self-directed.
• Must read, write, and communicate in English, including safety regulations.
• Must meet ergonomic, physical, and base profile requirements for the position.
• Must be able to use or learn required equipment and tools.
• Must perform all job functions safely and meet company quality and performance standards.
• Must agree to wear proper assigned PPE and approved shoes.
