Responsibilities
- Load railcars and trucks with various materials.
- Fill coal hoppers.
- Perform general plant labor and clean up of production areas.
- Observe, monitor, and report any conditions that could lead to product nonconformity or other irregularity.
- Train in various entry-level production positions and fill in as needed during vacation, absences, and increased production demands.
- Perform kiln outage work including refractory.
- Report equipment problems identified to management.
- Complete equipment pre-shift report, if applicable.
- Clean work areas.
- Shovel stone from around conveyors.
- Remove and install kiln refractory.
- Operate small front end loader.
- Replace or assist other workers as needed or directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional variables.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, frequently required to walk and occasionally required to sit;
- Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls;
- Reach with hands and arms;
- Climb or balance;
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl;

- Taste or smell.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
