We are partnered with an industry-leading pharmaceutical manufacturer to add a Utilities Engineer to their growing team in the greater Raleigh, NC area. This role is ideal for an individual looking to further develop their technical expertise and grow into a lead design engineering position with increasing responsibility for independently developing and executing utility system projects.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and implementation of industrial utility systems, including: Steam, Chilled Water, Heating Hot Water, Compressed Air, Natural Gas, Industrial and Commercial Plumbing Systems.
- Assist in developing construction documents for code-compliant underground plumbing and utility systems.
- Specify utility equipment through the development of: User Requirements, P&IDs, Equipment sizing calculations, Technical specifications, Equipment datasheets.
- Support the selection and specification of equipment such as: Boilers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Heating Hot Water Systems, Air Compressors, Receivers and Storage Tanks, Associated Utility Equipment.
- Develop and revise piping, material, and equipment specifications to meet project requirements.
- Conduct vendor evaluations, review bids, monitor project progress, and participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT).
- Provide field support during construction to ensure project safety, quality, and schedule objectives are achieved.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams on the design, startup, and commissioning of new utility systems.
- Respond to contractor requests for information, review and approve submittals, and issue field documentation as required.
- Support commissioning activities, as-built documentation, and project turnover packages.
- Ensure compliance with applicable company standards, environmental regulations, building codes, and industry requirements.
- Evaluate existing utility infrastructure and develop solutions to support facility expansions and new operations.
- Perform engineering calculations related to utility equipment sizing and system capacity requirements.
- Develop subject matter expertise in industrial utility system design and construction.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 3-5+ years of experience in an industrial engineering, utilities engineering, mechanical engineering, or related role.
- Ability to prepare clear technical reports, project updates, and engineering documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to coordinate meetings and effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
