Utilities Technician

About the role

The Utilities Technician (Water Distribution) plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the water distribution system within the community. This position involves troubleshooting issues, performing maintenance tasks, and ensuring the efficient operation of the water supply network.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair water distribution system malfunctions
• Maintain and operate water treatment facilities
• Perform preventative maintenance on water infrastructure
• Respond to emergency calls related to water distribution issues
• Document work activities and submit reports as required

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• At least 2 years of related experience in water utility operations
• First aid certification
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Good problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Skills

• Proficient in using water treatment equipment
• Knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
