About This Position

The Public Works Department strives to improve the quality of life in Phoenix through efficient delivery of outstanding solid waste, fleet, facilities, and energy management services. The Solid Waste Division provides trash, recycling, and other waste diversion services to more than 420,000 households. The department is seeking individuals dedicated to customer service and interested in working for a municipal utility as a Utilities Service Specialist in the Solid Waste Division.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex customer service requests, and be capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment while typing 40 or more words per minute. Proficiency in navigating multiple computer monitors at the same time. Excellent verbal communication and a desire to effectively listen and resolve customer concerns. Commitment to continuous improvement, collaborative teamwork, and excellent customer service. Knowledge of Solid Waste customer service or government utility.

PAY AND BENEFITS

  • SALARY
    • Pay Range: $21.97 to $30.92 per hour.
    • Hiring Range: $21.97 to $28.04 per hour.
    • Pay Range Explanation: Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification. Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • One year of Customer Service experience in a large customer call center.
  • All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
  • Sitting position for extended periods of time.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Experience With Using computer terminals to input, update, and query information.
  • Entering and viewing data on multiple monitors at the same time.
  • Cisco Finesse/Jabber or a related phone software.
  • Customer Care & Billing (CC&B) databases and/or software.
  • Interpreting and applying rules and regulations.
  • Daily data entry into a customer database.
