Utilities Senior Project Manager
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Utilities Senior Project Manager to join our Project Delivery team. This role involves leading utility service initiation, coordination, and execution across a diverse portfolio of complex projects. You will collaborate with utility providers, clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless utility service installations, infrastructure coordination, and accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary communication hub for all assigned projects: Providing proactive status updates to the Manager, internal Project Management team, and clients on a daily and weekly cadence
- Escalate issues before they become delays
- Ensure no stakeholder is left waiting for critical information
- Serve as a direct point of contact for clients, bringing professionalism, responsiveness, care, and strong interpersonal communication skills to every interaction; maintain and strengthen client relationships through consistent communication, reliable follow-through, and a service-first, solutions-oriented mindset
- Obtain and review utility design drawings, service agreements, easements, and cost estimates
- Prepare utility applications, initiate service orders, and request Load Letters from the Engineer of Record (EOR) / Architect of Record (AOR)
- Coverge with electric, gas, water, sewer, and telecommunications providers to establish, modify, relocate, or remove utility services
- Review, coordinate, and markup site utility plans, plumbing, and electrical drawings; confirm number and type of water connections (fire, domestic, irrigation, etc.)
- Submit applications, load letters, utility site plans, and applicable plumbing/electrical sheets to gas and electric utilities; include Google Earth exhibit for site identification; submit water and sewer applications and utility site plan only unless otherwise requested
- Aid with permit acquisition and jurisdictional approvals as they relate to utility work, ensuring compliance with local requirements
- Follow up with utility companies regarding engineer assignments, invoices, easements, client signatures, required documentation, and client payments as needed
- Coordinate on-site meetings with utilities, clients, and contractors; confirm service sources and provide the project team with a comprehensive service outline, including source, type, special conditions, cost, redlines, installation responsibility, and technical requirements
- Coordinate utility infrastructure and contractor responsibilities to bring electric, water, gas, sewer, and telecommunications services to project sites
- Maintain detailed project records and provide regular, structured status updates to clients and internal management teams
- Prepare comprehensive utility reports for Director review prior to client submission
Requirements
- Strong, proactive communication skills - both written and verbal - with a demonstrated ability to keep clients and stakeholders informed before they ask for updates, set clear expectations, and communicate delays or issues before they escalate
- Strong initiative and a genuine desire to learn: this role requires someone who takes ownership, digs in independently, and actively builds expertise in an evolving field
- Organizational and problem-solving skills with ability to multitask
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across internal departments
- Experience reading and comprehending engineered drawings
- Familiarity with municipal utility processes and service connection workflows
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of comparable experience
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe Acrobat
Skills
- Experience in utility coordination, construction utilities, or infrastructure project support

Pay
$90,000 – $100,000 annually, based on knowledge, skills, and experience
Schedule
This position is based in Manalapan, NJ, with a hybrid work schedule. Standard working hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM. Travel to client sites or municipal agencies as required. Attendance at meetings may be required at management discretion or based on project needs.
