Utilities Senior Design Technician
About the role
This role performs professional, technical, and analytical work creating, maintaining, and editing maps and geospatial data for a wide range of engineering projects. You’ll work with GIS, AutoCAD, and related software to manage geodatabases, prepare detailed maps, drainage designs, legal descriptions, and presentation exhibits, while ensuring accuracy and consistency with established standards. The position also supports project planning, supervises field data collection, and provides exceptional customer service by assisting the public and other departments with archival drawings, plans, and technical information.
Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze spatial data using industry-standard software and tools
- Interpret civil engineering plans and hydrologic information
- Support public works and utilities projects from planning through implementation
- Collaborate with internal teams and assist external customers
- Use sound judgment, resourcefulness, and professionalism to solve complex problems and support informed decision-making
Requirements
- An associate degree preferred, with a background in Geography, Computer Science, Planning, or Civil Engineering
- Four (4) years of experience in GIS, computer aided drafting and design, mapping
- No licenses or certificates required

Pay
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
Schedule
The position is typically full-time, with flexible hours to accommodate project needs. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
Additional Details
Physical demands include walking, sitting, hearing, seeing up close, talking, standing, finger movement, and repetitive motions. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Work is primarily performed in an indoor, climate-controlled environment.
