Utilities Line Technician

About the Role

Utilities Line Technicians at all levels install, maintain, test, and repair overhead and underground high-voltage electrical distribution systems, including cables, transformers, switchgear, and related equipment. Work involves heights and confined spaces. Depending on experience, duties range from assisting and training in core tasks to independently performing complex work, overseeing projects, and leading crews in planning, scheduling, and safe execution of operations. All roles require collaboration, adherence to safety standards, and progressive technical skill development in the line technician trade.

Qualifications

• Master Utilities Line Technician:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 7 years of experience in overhead and underground electrical distribution system maintenance and operation
  • Valid Class B driver’s license or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Senior Utilities Line Technician:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of experience in overhead and underground electrical distribution system maintenance and operation
  • Valid Class B driver’s license or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Utilities Line Technician:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in overhead and underground electrical distribution system maintenance and operation
  • Valid Class B driver’s license or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Utilities Line Technician Assistant:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of related experience in general electrical or electronics
  • Under supervision, receives training and assists in installing and maintaining high-voltage distribution systems
  • Valid Class B driver’s license or ability to obtain within 6 months

Pay

• Master Utilities Line Technician: $36.06 to $54.87 per hour
• Senior Utilities Line Technician: $32.70 to $49.75 per hour
• Utilities Line Technician: $26.64 to $40.53 per hour
• Utilities Line Technician Assistant: $21.59 to $32.85 per hour
