Summary: The Utility Engineer serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for plant utility systems, including WFI, WRO, clean steam, and other process utilities. This role supports manufacturing operations by ensuring utility systems are reliable, compliant, and operating efficiently in a GMP/biopharmaceutical environment. The Utility Engineer also leads engineering improvements, supports capital projects, and ensures uninterrupted utility performance while maintaining regulatory compliance. ResponsibilitiesServe as the technical expert for plant utility systems, including WFI, WRO, clean steam, water pretreatment, compressed air, gases, wastewater, and chemical distribution systems.Identify, analyze, and implement improvements to utility, facility, and process systems.Monitor utility system performance and troubleshoot equipment or process issues to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations.Provide technical support to manufacturing, maintenance, operations, and facilities teams, including off-hours support when needed.Lead or support engineering projects through design, construction, commissioning, qualification, validation, and project close-out.Develop and review engineering documents, including PFDs, P&IDs, specifications, URS, RFQs, FAT/SAT, IQ protocols, project schedules, budgets, and contractor packages.Ensure utility systems comply with FDA, EMA, cGMP, and applicable engineering standards.Support deviations, investigations, CAPAs, audit readiness, and regulatory inspections.Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve system reliability and performance.Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Facilities, and Global Engineering teams to support site objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.Required Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related Engineering discipline.3–8+ years of experience in utility engineering, process engineering, or facilities engineering, preferably in a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of utility systems, including WFI, WRO, clean steam, water systems, compressed air, gases, wastewater, and chemical distribution.Experience with engineering design, project execution, commissioning, qualification, validation, and lifecycle management.Working knowledge of FDA, EMA, cGMP regulations, instrumentation, ISA standards, and engineering documentation.Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational reliability.TekWissen® Group is an equal opportunity employer supporting workforce diversity.
