About the role
The Utilities Electrician team supports Texas A&M University's utility plants and campus electrical infrastructure by installing, maintaining, and servicing electrical systems ranging from low voltage to high voltage. These roles perform electrical maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on industrial equipment such as generators, boilers, chillers, motors, switchgear, battery systems, and campus lighting.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on industrial plant equipment and electrical systems.
- Interpret electrical schematics and system prints.
- Maintain equipment such as generators, boilers, chillers, and variable frequency drives.
- Support safe and reliable utility operations across campus.
- Provide training, coordinate work activities, oversee job sites, and lead or supervise multicraft teams.
Requirements
- Master Utilities Electrician: 7 years of experience as an industrial electrician (working in power, chemical, refinery plants or other heavy industry).
- Senior Utilities Electrician: 5 years of experience as an industrial electrician (working in power, chemical, refinery plants or other heavy industry).
- Utilities Electrician: 3 years of related experience in industrial, commercial, and overhead/underground electrical distribution systems.
- Utilities Electrician Assistant: 1 year of related experience.
Qualifications
- Master Utilities Electrician: High School Diploma, GED, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Senior Utilities Electrician: High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Utilities Electrician: High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Utilities Electrician Assistant: High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Skills
Proficiency in using specialized electrical testing and diagnostic tools, ability to interpret electrical diagrams and schematics, and strong safety and reliability skills are essential.

- Master Utilities Electrician: $32.43-35.67
- Senior Utilities Electrician: $28.20-$31.02
- Utilities Electrician: $24.52-$26.97
- Utilities Electrician Assistant: $21.32-$23.45

This position is located in College Station, TX. Remote/Work from alternate location is not available at this time.
