Utilities Accountant
Orange County Utilities provides water resources and solid waste recovery services to protect and enrich the lives of the citizens and guests of Orange County, Florida. The Fiscal and Operational Support Division delivers financial management, accounting, IT, procurement, warehouse, facilities maintenance, safety administration, and agreements management services to the Utilities department.
About the role
This position is responsible for auditing compliance with procedures and ensuring proper supporting documentation is organized and submitted to Finance. Duties may vary based on area of assignment.
Responsibilities
- Administer developer agreements and other contracts related to the Water and Wastewater Systems.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial, revenue, consumption, statistical, and management reports, including trend analyses and key performance metrics.
- Assist with audit requests by preparing financial schedules, supporting documentation, and account analyses.
- Develop, modify, and maintain the utility billing system to support accurate financial and customer account information.
- Maintain and review revenue and maintenance fee schedules and related financial information.
- Perform revenue and billing reconciliations, including accounts receivable, customer deposits, and other related general ledger accounts.
- Perform month-end and year-end accounting close activities, including reconciliations, adjustments, accruals, and supporting schedules.
- Coordinate with Utilities Customer Services personnel to maintain and reconcile capacity availability information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with major course work in accounting from an accredited college or university.
- One year of relevant experience.

- Knowledge in CC&B and Advantage applications.

Pay
Pay Grade: 015 - From $25.00 to $28.75 per hour. FLSA Status: Exempt.
Schedule
40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
