UTE PASS ELEMENTARY-PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER
About the role
The Physical Education Teacher at Ute Pass Elementary School will teach a specialty curriculum in physical education to students in grades PreK-6. The position requires a current valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsements, experience in PE instruction, and knowledge of the Colorado Student Standards.
Responsibilities
- Teaches a specialty curriculum physical education to students in a classroom, using approved curriculum.
- Develops lesson plans, instructional materials, and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Engages in professional development and implements strategies that support school-wide instructional initiatives.
- Gathers student data through observation, dialogue, testing tools, etc., and designs strategies to meet student needs.
- Supports student learning through thoughtful planning and preparation and sound classroom management practices.
- Maintains updated gradebooks, tracks data, drafts report cards.
- Treats students with respect and dignity, establishes rapport with students, and provides a pleasant, safe, and orderly environment conducive to learning.
- Communicates effectively with school administrators, teachers, student service personnel, parents regarding student performance and plans for improvement in a positive and professional manner.
- Participates in professional development and building level staff meetings per direction of the building principal.
- Assists in orientation and open houses as needed.
- Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
- Teaches small group intervention in reading and math.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsement(s).
- Experience in PE instruction preferred.
- Experience in differentiating instruction, and supporting students with learning challenges.
- Knowledge of the Colorado Student Standards.
- Completes a fingerprint/background check.
Qualifications
Must have a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. Must have a valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsements.
