About the role
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to engage with the watershed biogeochemistry research program at the USGS New York Water Science Center in Troy, New York.
Responsibilities
- Engage in field sampling and sensor maintenance
- Conduct laboratory analyses of soil and water chemistry
- Manage and interpret data for synthesis efforts
- Collaborate with USGS scientists and external collaborators
- Contribute to the development of regional biogeochemical inventories and prediction of water quality trends
- Write peer-reviewed publications aligned with personal interests
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently received a doctoral degree in relevant fields
- Desirable skills include field and analytical laboratory experience, data science and programming competencies, and scientific writing
- Self-motivated and effective communication skills
- Comfortable working in an interdisciplinary team
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in relevant fields within the last 24 months or anticipated to be received by January 1, 2027
- Relevant research experience in hydrology, analytical chemistry, biogeochemistry, and/or soil science
- Desirable skills include field and analytical laboratory experience, data science and programming competencies (e.g., R, Git), and scientific writing
