Responsibilities
- Assemble and configure prototype acoustic detectors
- Conduct field deployments and data collection
- Evaluate detector performance
- Test NABat-compatible data workflows
- Support multi-taxa sensor integration tests
- Document results and collaborate on guidance materials
Requirements
The position requires a bachelor's or master's degree in relevant fields such as Chemistry and Materials Sciences, Communications and Graphics Design, Computer, Information, and Data Sciences, Earth and Geosciences, Engineering, Environmental and Marine Sciences, Life Health and Medical Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, Physics, Science & Engineering-related, or Social and Behavioral Sciences. Degrees must have been received within the last 48 months or be anticipated by 6/1/2029.
Qualifications
Experience in wildlife monitoring technologies, acoustic ecology, and machine learning applications in environmental science is preferred. Practical skills in hardware assembly, sensor integration, field protocol implementation, data management, and quantitative analysis are required.
Skills
Hands-on experience in developing, deploying, and evaluating open-source, edge-computing acoustic detectors is desired. Knowledge of NABat deployment protocols and familiarity with real-world research workflows are beneficial.
