Responsibilities

  • Leading the plan, design and development activities to create the user experience for devices, tools and systems.
  • Establishing interactive conventions, assisting in gathering user requirements, mocking-up user experiences, participating in trade-off discussions with development teams and subject matter experts.
  • Analyzing tool sets, creating screen mock-ups and helping customers to imagine new kinds of interactive techniques and technologies.
  • Applying visualization and screen design expertise to create a successful user experience.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience conducting usability testing, interviews, and/or contextual inquiry directly with end users.
  • Comfortable assisting research sessions alongside a UX lead.
  • Experience independently running research studies end-to-end (objective-setting, study design, execution, and synthesis).
  • Working knowledge of both qualitative discovery methods (usability testing, contextual inquiry) and quantitative data collection methods (surveys, analytics review, A/B testing, card sorting, tree testing, session observation).
  • Strong note-taking and data organization skills where they are able to capture and structure raw findings accurately for leadership synthesis and analysis.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented execution of research protocols with minimal need for independent research strategy or stakeholder presentation.
  • Comfort operating with ambiguous, evolving requirements typical of mission/IC environments that is able to define research questions when none is handed to them.

Qualifications

  • Ten years' experience in User Experience Design.
  • Five years' experience within the last 10 years experience leading project life cycle design.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Four (4) years of additional User Experience Design experience on projects with similar design may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with Information Technology: Three (3) years experience with screen mock-up tools (e.g. Powerpoint, Visio, Axure) and related industry tools used to create visual displays and prototypes.

Pay

  • $153k-$166k per year with an additional $38k-$42k in immediately vested company 401(k) contributions.
