Used Truck Manager
About the role
The Used Truck Sales Manager plans and directs the used truck marketing activities of assigned branch(es). This role involves organizing, directing, and controlling the efforts of used truck sales and maintenance personnel to meet company objectives and defined sales goals.
Key responsibilities include developing sales and marketing programs to achieve specific sales and net profit targets, evaluating department performance, appraising used truck sales personnel, and controlling used truck inventory turns and gross profit through market analysis. The manager also trains and develops sales personnel, maintains relations with wholesalers and dealers, and ensures collaboration across all branch departments.
This is a safety-sensitive position. Any lapse in attention could result in injury, illness, or death, including operating heavy equipment, machinery, or motor vehicles, or handling hazardous materials.
Responsibilities
- Plan and direct used truck marketing activities for assigned branch(es).
- Develop and implement sales and marketing programs to meet sales and net profit targets based on market conditions.
- Evaluate Used Truck Department performance against established targets and take corrective action as needed.
- Appraise performance of used truck sales personnel and provide training to meet objectives.
- Control used truck inventory turns and gross profit through market analysis for retail and wholesale opportunities.
- Appraise used trucks for resale, determining reconditioning requirements for retail or wholesale.
- Assist in selling efforts and support sales personnel as necessary.
- Establish and maintain relationships with outside wholesalers, dealers, and auction companies.
- Ensure collaboration and understanding across all branch departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the wholesale/retail market.
- Sales and management training.
- Strong interpersonal and people skills.
- Willingness to travel.
- Strong work ethic and team-oriented mindset.
- CDL preferred.
