About the role

The Team Lead operates a business within a business. Their responsibilities include daily operations of the used firearms business, which encompasses buying, selling, and firearms customer service. This position initiates all 4473 forms with customers and ensures the final checks of applicable company, state, and federal forms before a firearm is transferred to the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and appraises used firearms with knowledge of fair market values, professional negotiation skills, research, and a high degree of firearms identification knowledge.
  • Controls used firearm inventory to maximize profit through buying, selling, and trading pre-owned firearms.
  • Maintains inventory through daily buying and cultivating leads for potential buying of gun collections outside of the store, along with awareness of local auctions, estate sales, and other supply avenues.
  • Complies with all Local, State, and Federal firearms regulations as an employee of an ATF FFL licensed dealer.
  • Conducts monthly ATF compliance audits and company required audits.
  • Merchandises used firearms and proactively arranges merchandise.
  • Partners with Internet Specialist to recommend firearms that will achieve the highest potential margin and sell quickly.
  • Trains and educates Outfitters on acquiring and disposing of used firearms, current sales trends, policy and procedure updates, negotiation skills, resources to identify used firearm values, and other educational aspects of the used firearm business.
  • Participates in ongoing training including firearms and shooting product information, diverse shooting discipline awareness, systems training, compliance related training, and selling skills / techniques.
  • Provides highest quality customer service on the sales floor and assists with customer phone calls, answering questions about firearms, quoting prices, and handling customer issues.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 2-4 years experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Safely handle firearms.
    • Knowledge of purchasing firearms by working in the firearms industry or collecting firearms.
    • Good understanding of retail and knowledge of computers.
    • Background in current firearms models.
    • Able to appraise and know the marketable value of used firearms.
    • Must have a great work ethic and ability to multi-task.

Travel Requirements

Local travel to purchase used firearms out of store.

Physical Requirements

  • Constantly stand and/or walk during shift.
  • Constantly communicate with others to exchange information.
  • Constantly repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Constantly assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Light work that includes constantly lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds, occasionally moving and lifting objects up to 100 pounds or more (utilizing a team lift as needed).
  • Occasionally ascend or descend ladders, stairs, step stools, etc.
  • Occasionally operate machinery and/or power tools.
  • Occasionally work in noisy environments.

Independent Judgement

Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.

Pay and Benefits

Starting Pay Rate: $20.00 - $22.75
