Job Summary

About the role

The QA sorter lead will conduct carcass and carcass part sorting activities and identify any abnormal conditions or defects before carcasses and their parts are presented to online inspectors. This person will focus on overseeing the QA sorters and assisting with their qualifications and ongoing training.

Responsibilities

• Perform the QA sorter job.
• Oversee and assist the QA Sorter department.
• Day-to-day control of QA Sorter department activities according to prescribed schedules, priorities, operation sequence, and processing specifications.
• Cover QA Sorter duties when someone is absent.
• Train employees in QA sorter areas.
• Ensure safety and productivity of production employees in designated area(s).
• Provide leadership resources to employees, offering knowledge, experience, motivation, support, and advice.
• Ensure safety and housekeeping and proper operation of equipment.
• Evaluate department work performance; take corrective action in accordance with company standard practices and procedures.
• Complete required paperwork.
• Assist meetings.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures warm, hot, humid, cold, wet or with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• High school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated knowledge of food safety and quality.
• Must be able to successfully complete training.
• Beef Modernization.
• Previous FSIS inspector training and experience.
• Knife experience.
• Bilingual.
• Quality assurance experience.
• Hands-on knowledge, training and/or experience in Basic Microbiology, Basic Chemistry, Sanitation, and HACCP.

Early 2025 - America's Heartland Packing is set to open its doors in early 2025. The 775,000 sq. ft. greenfield project will include a harvest floor, carcass chillers, fabrication area, rendering, further processing area, storage coolers, freezers, and loading docks.
