(USA) Truck Shop Refrigeration Technician - ROBINSON, TX (1ST SHIFT)

Position Summary

Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on transport refrigeration units (TRUs) and other vehicle components.

What you'll do...

• Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on transport refrigeration units (TRUs) according to OEM procedures.
• Maintains and repairs refrigeration trailer interior walls, floors, doors, and accessories such as bulkheads, evaporator guards, and remote controllers.
• Operates and diagnoses transport refrigeration unit (TRU) electrical systems using technical manuals and diagnostic tools like wiring diagrams, schematics, multimeters, laptops, and testers.
• Reclaims, recycles, checks for leaks, repairs, and recharges refrigeration systems and tractor climate control systems such as auxiliary power units (APUs) including heaters and air conditioning units, and communication systems.
• Maintains and repairs trailers in accordance with established procedures, including electrical wiring, lighting, and light assemblies, landing gear, interior panels, roof repairs, tire seals, flooring, doors, and threshold plates.
• Preventative maintenance of tractor-trailer braking systems components, including hydraulic, air, anti-skid (ABS), and electronic brake distribution (EBD).
• Installs and dismounts tires, performs tire balancing, and performs advanced axle alignments using electronic digital equipment.
• Conducts fuel sampling and sampling analysis, completes necessary documentation, and receives fuel drops.
• Assesses maintenance, repair, and replacement needs, identifies needed parts, and performs warrantable repairs by documenting condition, cause, and correction information in the maintenance system.
• Completes work orders, records logs, and other written or computer-based documents in accordance with established procedures.
• Aids other technicians with equipment repair and maintenance.
• Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience in trailer refrigeration maintenance and repair (e.g., diagnostic and component replacement).
• EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Handling Certification.
• Valid state-issued driver's license.
• Brake inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.25.
• Vehicle Inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.19.

Preferred Qualifications

• Both Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and Department of Transportation (DOT) driver's certification.
• Maintaining tractors and trailers (e.g., preventative maintenance, repairs).
• Thermo King Master Tech, Carrier Master Tech, or equivalent certifications.
• Using computer applications (e.g., email, spreadsheets, word processing).
• ASE Certification - Certification.
