Position Summary
Walmart is seeking a Staff Incident Response Engineer to lead the development and execution of cyber incident response strategies. This role involves managing complex investigations, mitigating threats across network and cloud environments, and enhancing detection and containment processes. The position requires expertise in hands-on response, vulnerability assessment, threat intelligence, and digital forensics to protect organizational assets. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor associates, and drive continuous improvements in security operations to safeguard against evolving cyber threats while supporting business objectives and compliance standards.
What you'll do
- Lead and execute cyber incident response activities, including detection, containment, mitigation, and recovery across network and cloud environments.
- Develop and refine response procedures aligned with security standards such as NIST 800-53 and ISO27001.
- Conduct malware analysis, threat research, and intelligence synthesis to identify and address emerging cyber threats.
- Mentor team members on incident handling, digital forensics, and vulnerability assessments to enhance response capabilities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to communicate incident status, manage risks, and implement prevention strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement of incident detection, response processes, and security controls to reduce impact and recurrence.
What you'll bring
- Proven expertise in incident response, including knowledge of cyber incident phases and mitigation strategies aligned with NIST 800-53 and ISO27001 standards.
- Experience with malware analysis, threat intelligence, and cyber incident management across network and cloud environments.
- Strong skills in vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, and threat modeling to identify and address security risks.
- Ability to develop and implement incident response procedures and lead containment and recovery efforts.
- Proficiency in stakeholder management and effective communication during incident response activities.
- Relevant certifications such as GIAC Certified Incident Handler or Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).
Additional Compensation
- The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $264,000.00
- Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
- Additional compensation for certain positions may also include : Stock
Minimum Qualifications
- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, or related area and 4 years’ experience in incident response or related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.
- Option 2: 6 years’ experience in incident response or related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications in Security+, Network+, GISF, GSEC, CISSP, CCSP, or GCIH
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity or related area and 2 years’ Exposure of leading/ working on Information Security / Cybersecurity Projects
