Position Summary
Lead the delivery of scoped features and solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and maintain high-quality software systems. This role requires expertise in software development lifecycle, including coding, debugging, and continuous integration, while integrating AI/ML components to enhance platform capabilities.
What you'll do
- Lead the discovery phase of medium to large projects by developing high-level designs in partnership with product management, project management, business stakeholders, and user experience teams, and securing cross-functional approvals.
- Lead small engineering groups (4–6 engineers) by providing documentation, direction, and examples; identifying short- and long-term solutions and timelines; reviewing proposed approaches; and conducting design and code reviews.
- Design and develop back-end solutions using technologies such as Java, Python, Apache Spark, Google Cloud, Airflow, DataProc, BigQuery, and NoSQL databases including Cassandra and MongoDB.
- Provide expert technical guidance, drive cross-functional alignment, and execute action plans that support customer and business needs.
About the team
The team partners closely with our U.S. Stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering associates, stores, and merchants with innovative technology solutions. Focus areas include: Customer experience, Store and associate enablement, In-store services, Merchant tools, Merchant data science.
What you'll bring
- Extensive experience in software development with proficiency in languages such as Java, Scala
- Strong expertise in object-oriented programming, code review, debugging, and documentation-based coding practices
- Proven ability to deliver scoped features and models through iterative development and continuous integration
- Skilled in AI/ML integration and leveraging generative AI tools to enhance development efficiency
- Demonstrated technical judgment in designing scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions
- Experience collaborating across teams to translate complex requirements into actionable technical solutions
Nice to Have
- Experience with Replenishment or Inventory systems and an understanding of how they operate
- Hands-on experience with Agentic AI development
- A passion for exploring technology outside of work
Minimum Qualifications
- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
- Option 2: 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
Additional Information
- Annual salary range: $90,000.00 - $180,000.00
- Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses
