About the role

The Senior Quality Engineer at Walmart plays a critical role in designing, executing, and maintaining comprehensive testing strategies to ensure product quality and compliance with business requirements. This position involves developing automated and manual test cases, performing root cause analysis, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to address defects and improve system performance. The role requires expertise in test frameworks, risk assessment, and continuous integration processes to support efficient delivery and uphold Walmart’s standards for operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute test cases for functional and nonfunctional requirements, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts to improve testing efficiency and accuracy.
  • Perform root cause analysis on defects and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective test objectives and plans.
  • Monitor project progress, report on quality metrics, and ensure adherence to testing schedules and standards.
  • Conduct integration, regression, and performance testing to validate system functionality and reliability.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending and implementing quality enhancements.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in test design, automation, and execution within industry-standard frameworks and tools.
  • Strong skills in root cause analysis, defect management, and troubleshooting to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks aligned with best practices.
  • Able to interpret customer requirements and translate them into comprehensive test objectives and plans.
  • Knowledge of integration, system performance, security, and regression testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with program monitoring, continuous integration, and deployment processes.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to support cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software quality assurance, manual/automated testing, or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years' experience in software engineering quality assurance, manual/automated testing, or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry experience (for example, retail, supply chain, eCommerce, healthcare).
  • Master's degree in Software Engineering Quality Assurance, Manual/Automated Testing, or related area and 1 year’s experience in Software Quality Assurance, Manual/Automated Testing, or related area.
  • Quality assurance certification (for example, CSTE - Certified Test Engineer, CSQA - Certified Software Quality Analyst).
