Position Summary
The Manager, Procurement Packaging Engineer will lead the development of packaging requirements, specifications, and solutions that enhance cost, quality, speed, risk management, and sustainability outcomes. They will collaborate with various teams to ensure successful implementation of packaging solutions.
What you'll do
- Define packaging, quality, testing, and sustainability requirements for sourcing events, supplier evaluations, and implementation plans.
- Lead packaging cost optimization and value engineering initiatives.
- Create, review, and maintain packaging specifications, standards, and test requirements.
- Oversee packaging testing, trials, and validation to confirm performance and implementation readiness.
- Partner with suppliers and cross-functional teams to resolve issues, improve execution, and support successful commercialization.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen packaging capability through standardization, documentation, innovation, and continuous improvement.

The Global Procurement Packaging team works to drive value through supplier-enabled innovation, clear technical requirements, standardizations, disciplined execution, and packaging solutions that support Walmart’s scale and supply chain complexity.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience in packaging engineering within procurement, sourcing, commercialization, manufacturing, or supplier-facing environments.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials, specifications, testing, structural design, and performance requirements.
- Experience supporting supplier evaluations, sourcing events, packaging changes, or cost optimization initiatives.
- Effective communication skills to influence stakeholders and present complex information clearly.
- A commitment to ethical practices and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, economics, technology, or related field and 2 years' experience in procurement strategy, contract management, analytics, or related field.
- Option 2: 4 years’ experience in procurement strategy, contract management, analytics, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Data modelling, data analytics, and data management, Qualified experience in Microsoft Excel.
