Key Responsibilities
- Provide maintenance leadership and direction to the Facilities Maintenance team during the assigned shift.
- Act as the shift maintenance leader in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor/Superintendent.
- Coordinate and organize maintenance activities and priorities during shift handoffs.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical facility systems.
- Provide technical expertise and training to maintenance mechanics at various skill levels.
- Oversee maintenance projects and coordinate the activities of maintenance personnel.
- Develop root-cause solutions for recurring equipment and system issues.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Ensure preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), and emergency maintenance (EM) activities are completed in a timely manner.
- Use Maximo or other computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to manage maintenance activities and work orders.
- Coordinate system shutdowns with other departments to minimize operational impact.
- Work closely with engineers, vendors, contractors, customers, and plant management.
- Cook up and manage contract labor for smaller maintenance projects.
- Escalate maintenance projects or issues that require additional resources or exceed established spending limits.
- Communicate maintenance progress, critical issues, equipment concerns, and production impacts to plant leadership.
- Participate in maintenance leadership meetings and support development of maintenance team capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED.
- 4-5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, pharmaceutical, or similar facility environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair experience.
- Experience maintaining facility systems such as: Boilers, Chillers, HVAC/air conditioning systems, Air compressors, Mechanical utility systems, Electrical systems.
- Experience performing preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance.
- Experience using Maximo, CMMS, or similar maintenance management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction or leadership to maintenance personnel.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, contractors, vendors, maintenance teams, and plant management.
- Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to work a 12-hour overnight shift on a 3-2-2 schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical school or vocational training in maintenance, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or a related field.
- Previous experience in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
- Experience with Water for Injection (WFI) systems.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical facility specifications and equipment.
- Experience with hardware/software control systems.
- Previous experience coordinating contractors or maintenance projects.
- Previous experience serving as a Maintenance Lead, Shift Lead, or acting Supervisor.
