About the role

The Coach is responsible for leading and developing associates, driving business and operational performance, and delivering a positive customer experience. This role oversees day-to-day operations, establishes clear expectations, develops talent, and promotes accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The Coach partners with associates, leaders, and key stakeholders to execute business priorities, achieve performance goals, and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, safety standards, and expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Leads high-performing teams by hiring, training, mentoring, assigning responsibilities, setting clear expectations, providing performance feedback, recognizing achievements, and developing future leaders.
    • Builds a culture of accountability, collaboration, and belonging where associates are empowered to perform at their best.
    • Develops talent and succession plans by identifying growth opportunities, supporting career development, and preparing associates for advancement.
    • Drives associate engagement and performance by communicating business priorities, reinforcing operational standards, and promoting continuous learning.
    • Provides ongoing coaching, guidance, and support to associates while addressing performance and development opportunities.
  • Business & Operational Performance
    • Drives business performance by reviewing results, identifying trends and opportunities, and implementing action plans to achieve operational and financial goals.
    • Supports budgeting, forecasting, expense management, and other business activities appropriate to the assigned area of responsibility.
    • Monitors key performance indicators and operational standards to identify opportunities to improve productivity, profitability, quality, and customer satisfaction.
    • Ensures effective execution of business priorities while balancing customer, associate, and operational needs.
    • Uses data and business insights to make informed decisions and drive results.
  • Customer Experience
    • Delivers exceptional customer service by ensuring associates understand and consistently meet customer expectations.
    • Identifies customer needs and ensures concerns, questions, and issues are addressed appropriately and effectively.
    • Develops and implements solutions to improve the customer experience and address identified opportunities.
    • Models customer-focused behaviors and creates an environment where associates are empowered to serve customers effectively.
  • Operations & Execution
    • Oversees daily operations within the assigned area of responsibility to ensure efficient and consistent execution.
    • Plans and coordinates workloads, staffing, resources, and priorities based on business and customer needs.
    • Ensures operational processes, procedures, and standards are executed accurately and consistently.
    • Identifies operational challenges and implements solutions that improve efficiency, productivity, quality, and overall performance.
    • Maintains a clean, organized, safe, and productive work environment.
  • Business Operations & Collaboration
    • Coordinates business initiatives by developing relationships with key stakeholders and supporting plans that meet customer and business needs.
    • Communicates goals, expectations, priorities, and performance standards while measuring progress and driving accountability for results.
    • Partners effectively across teams and functions to accomplish shared business objectives.
    • Demonstrates adaptability and supports associates through organizational, operational, and technological change.
    • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and helps implement solutions that strengthen business performance.
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, operational requirements, and applicable safety and regulatory standards.
    • Supports company values and standards of ethics and integrity by modeling appropriate behaviors and holding associates accountable.
    • Promotes a safe environment for associates and customers and addresses potential safety or compliance concerns.
    • Provides direction and guidance to associates regarding company policies, procedures, and expectations.

Requirements

  • 2 years of college; OR
  • 1 year of retail experience and 1 year of supervisory experience; OR
  • 2 years of general work experience and 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • For facilities that sell firearms, successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training is required.
  • For facilities that sell only ammunition and have state-specific requirements, a current state-issued Certificate of Eligibility may be required.
  • Associates will be required to attend and successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments (e.g., Academy trainings, Open Door trainings).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University.
  • General work experience supervising 5 or more direct reports to include the responsibility of performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $65,000.00 - $100,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Complex Structure (based on external factors that create challenges).
