US JV Boys Basketball Assistant Coach

The purpose of the Overlake Athletic Department is “To teach character to multi-sport athletes in a fun and competitive environment.” The Overlake School is seeking qualified applicants for our Winter season's Upper School Basketball Assistant Coach position. The position requires knowledge of the sport, and prior coaching experience at the middle or high school levels is preferred. Teaching and club coaching experience are also considered. Overlake School is an independent, secular, college prep school serving grades 5‑12, located in Redmond, Washington. In addition to state‑of‑the‑art facilities and a competitive yet inclusive athletic department, Overlake boasts an 80% student participation rate in athletics.
Responsibilities
- Execute all team practices & games
- Provide basic medical treatment for non‑life‑threatening injuries
- Be able to execute emergency plans for athletic facilities
- Attend Athletic Department Coaches Training prior to season starting
- Maintain a minimum of weekly communications with families
Requirements
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, parents, alumni, and administrators
- Ability to role model the behavior that he/she demands
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- First Aid/CPR certification (training provided if needed)
- Document an acceptable driving record to transport students to and from games
- Ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds
- Completion of all WIAA coach training requirements
Schedule
The season starts the week of November 16th and ends in February or March (depending on State play). Practices run five days per week, usually 4:30‑6:30 pm, with some Saturday games and practices. Practices and home games are held on campus in state‑of‑the‑art facilities. Away games are held at opponents’ gyms.
Pay
The season stipend amount is $5,850.00.
