US Immigration Specialist
About the role
The US Immigration Specialist supports and manages U.S. employment-based immigration processes. This role partners closely with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and external immigration counsel to ensure compliant and efficient administration of U.S. visa and permanent residency cases.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end employment-based immigration processes, including nonimmigrant visas (e.g., H-1B, L-1, TN, E-3) and permanent residency (PERM, I-140, I-485)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, hiring managers, and HR partners regarding immigration and mobility matters
- Partner with external immigration counsel to prepare, review, and file petitions and applications
- Act as a liaison between internal stakeholders and outside immigration counsel to ensure alignment on service expectations, communication, and compliance
- Maintain compliance with all federal regulations, including Public Access Files (PAFs), I-9 requirements, and audit readiness
- Monitor changes in immigration laws and policies; provide guidance and recommendations to stakeholders
- Cross-check with payroll, tax, and legal teams to ensure compliance with cross-border employment regulations
- Develop and deliver training and communications related to immigration and mobility processes
- Affirm compliance with budgeting, forecasting, and vendor management related to immigration and relocation services
- Generate reports and metrics on immigration caseload, trends, and program effectiveness
- Carry out administrative tasks related to immigration processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Legal Studies, or a related field
- 2-5 years of experience in employment-based immigration and/or global mobility
- Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration processes and compliance requirements
- Experience working with immigration case management systems and external counsel
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex processes clearly
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- High level of discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
