Key Responsibilities
- Engage with:Lab scientists and researchers, QA and compliance teams, Lab IT and system owners
- Capture detailed requirements for:LIMS, SDMS, ELN workflows, Data capture, processing, and reporting
- Analyze and document end-to-end lab processes, including:Sample lifecycle, Methods and experiments, Test execution and results generation
- Identify process flows across:LIMSSDMS (instrument data capture), ELN
- Identify and define:Key data entities (samples, methods, experiments, results, instruments), Relationships and dependencies between entities
- Analyze:Data flows across systems, Data usage by business stakeholders
- Perform deep-dive analysis of:LIMS (structured lab data), SDMS (instrument-generated files and metadata)
- Understand:Data structures, Field meanings, Data quality issues and inconsistencies
- Translate business needs into:Data model inputs (entities, attributes, relationships), Source-to-target mappings, Data dictionary definitions
- Support mapping activities:Field-level mapping from LIMS/SDMS to target models
- Identify:Data gaps, Transformation logic, Standardization requirements
- Identify and document:Data quality issues, Inconsistencies across systems
- Support definition of:Business rules, Data quality requirements, Governance topics: Ownership, Stewardship, Definitions
- Support definition of:Data consumers (QA, reporting, analytics, regulatory), Integration needs across systems
- Identify use cases for:Reporting and compliance, Analytics and digital thread
- Develop and maintain:Business requirement documents (BRDs), Functional specifications, Process flow diagrams, Data definitions and mapping documents
- Facilitate and participate in:Requirement workshops, Data validation sessions
- Validate outputs with:Lab SMEs, QA and compliance teams, IT stakeholders
- Work closely with:Data architects, Data modelers, Governance leads
- Support delivery across:Discovery, Modeling, Governance, Architecture alignment
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in: Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, or Engineering, Information Systems / Data Analytics (with lab experience)
- 5–10 years of experience in: Business analysis, Lab informatics or scientific data environments
- Hands-on experience with:LIMS systems (LabWare, STARLIMS, Thermo Fisher, etc.), SDMS platforms (BIOVIA, LabVantage, Waters NuGenesis, etc.), ELN systems (preferred)
- Strong understanding of:Lab workflows (sample lifecycle, experiments, results), Instrument data capture and file structures, Scientific data lifecycle and regulatory needs
- Data Analysis, Data mapping and transformation logic, Data quality issue identification, Business rule definition
- Documentation & Tools, Process flow tools (Visio, Lucidchart), Data mapping and documentation tools, Strong Excel and analytical skills
