About the Role

Fitch’s North American Corporates Group is seeking a Senior Credit Analyst for coverage of the Utilities and Midstream sector, either in our New York, Chicago, or Toronto office. This role offers an opportunity to be a lead coverage analyst at a global rating agency, working in a team-oriented environment with a presence in over 30 countries.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis of key quantitative and qualitative factors influencing credit quality of companies in the Utilities and Midstream sectors
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models
  • Conduct meetings with Retail & Consumer industry management teams
  • Present analysis of companies to internal credit rating committees
  • Communicate rating rationale to external audiences, including institutional investors, sell-side analysts, and media, through meetings, conference calls, press releases, and written research reports
  • Write timely and effective research on topical issues
  • Participate in the evaluation of other credits within Corporates and related credit groups
  • Represent Fitch in panel discussions and conferences arranged by industry associations and regulatory bodies
  • Mentor junior members of the Utilities & Midstream sector
  • Possibly assume managerial responsibilities

Requirements

  • 3 years of relevant experience, with some coverage or knowledge of the Utilities and Midstream sectors a plus
  • Capital markets and/or credit analysis experience preferred
  • Expertise in Excel and Word
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to excel in a team-oriented environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree at minimum, MBA or other advanced degree a plus
  • CFA/CPA or CFA candidate preferred
  • Some knowledge of and interest in the Utilities and Midstream industries
  • Professional background in capital markets and/or credit analysis with strong financial statement analysis skills
  • Desire to deepen understanding of debt capital markets
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to interact with various stakeholders

Pay

For New York and Chicago roles only: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $95,000 and $110,000. Actual salaries will be determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors.
