US Commercial Manager
About the role
GHD is excited to announce its search for the US Commercial Manager. This position is key to the project team, focusing on the pursuit and successful execution of projects, particularly those classified as Elevated Risk Activities under GHD's Limits of Authority (LOA).
Responsibilities
- Provide consistent commercial, risk and contract management leadership to support GHD’s governance and performance throughout the project life cycle.
- Assist with the positioning of GHD to undertake services, including assisting Legal Counsel to prepare teaming, partnering, and/or joint venture agreements.
- Work collaboratively with Legal Counsel, the Operations Manager, and other stakeholders to agree on commercial and risk mitigation strategies, including formulation and negotiation of contractual departures to align contract terms with GHD’s risk appetite.
- Participate in Tender Review Group (TRG) and, if applicable, subsequent gateway approvals as required under the LOA, including assisting bid teams with the preparation of briefing presentations/notes to senior management.
- Prepare regional guidance notes to inform GHD personnel on how to effectively address and/or manage key commercial/risk management or governance issues.
- Prepare guides to assist project teams in effectively managing contract/commercial risks associated with master services or panel agreements.
- Prepare and deliver commercial and contract management training to GHD personnel.
- Absorb financial modeling associated with GHD’s commercial offers to clients.
- Undertake Commercial Health Checks or other commercial reviews for projects in accordance with relevant procedures.
Requirements
Undergraduate degree, advanced degree preferred, in a related field. Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the successful delivery of projects and/or in a corporate governance role. Detailed understanding of commercial frameworks, strategies, and drivers of construction contractor, government, quasi-government, and private-sector clients. Extensive experience negotiating commercial contracts. Extensive experience in the successful commercial and contract management of projects. Commercially astute with sound business acumen.
