Purpose & Scope

The US Commercial Finance Partner, Revenue provides financial leadership and decision support to key stakeholders and senior leaders responsible for Astellas US Commercial Business. This role influences business partners’ choices and priorities, establishing a climate of financial stewardship and championing value creation. The individual provides actionable insights, financial analytics, and management reporting to guide business initiatives, strategy, and operational excellence.

Core responsibilities include Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) processes such as monthly close cycles, annual budgeting, and quarterly financial forecasts. The role partners with US Commercial, Contracts & Pricing, Government Pricing, Rebate Operations, Global Financial Services, Internal/External Auditors, and the FP&A Center of Excellence to support Gross-to-Net (GTN) sales accounting. The position owns GTN sales accounting, analytics, and reporting to Senior Management, ensuring GTN forecast alignment between Commercial Finance and Contracts & Pricing. The role also coordinates with cross-functional partners to ensure compliance with IFRS and J-SOX and plays a key part in executing Global Finance Strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates monthly revenue accounting closes and ensures all liabilities are properly accrued in accordance with Company policy, IFRS, and J-SOX.
  • Ensures all underlying transactions are generated in accordance with established accounting principles.
  • Provides internal, external, and royalty audit assistance for quarterly/annual reviews and audits, including J-SOX surrounding GTN activities.
  • Prepares detailed payment vs. accrual tracking reports and analyses.
  • Partners and coordinates all GTN operational accounting and reporting activity, collaborating with internal clients and departments.
  • Works with Contracts & Pricing and Government Pricing to incorporate all known liabilities in monthly GTN accruals.
  • Completes monthly account analyses and prepares monthly and quarterly GTN reporting and analytics packages.
  • Collaborates with Finance and Contracts & Pricing to support recommendations to Senior Management regarding GTN budget and strategic direction.
  • Performs detailed variance analysis to explain forecast and GTN variances to internal customers.
  • Improves and maintains transparency of GTN activities across functions.
  • Identifies, designs, and implements forecasting methodology and process improvements (automation & simplification projects).
  • Responsible for calculation, accounting, and forecasting for Astellas Branded Pharma fee.
  • Actively monitors industry trends to benchmark and elevate Astellas’ GTN accounting and sales forecasting functionality.
  • Implements and maintains departmental policies and procedures, including J-SOX controls.
  • Leads the maintenance and development of processes and tools to ensure GTN forecast alignment between Commercial Finance and Contracts & Pricing.
  • Partners with Contracts & Pricing, Government Pricing, Market Research, Brand Marketing, and Management to ensure forecast models capture correct GTN input variables.
  • Provides quarterly gross sales (demand & inventory) estimates to Contracts & Pricing for GTN builds, collaborating with Supply Chain as needed.
  • Serves as a Subject-Matter Expert in Revenue Recognition (IFRS 15) to assist in revenue-related matters.
  • Responsible for Weekly Sales Reporting to the Company.
  • Supports and owns the forecast allocation process for US-Commercial.
  • Aids in forecasting GTN for Established/Non-Promoted products within the US-Commercial portfolio.
  • Embeds a Compliance Culture, ensuring integrity in all initiatives and proactively addressing non-compliance.
  • Ensures a culture of Ethics and Compliance, leading by example and incorporating cross-cultural perspectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional-level English in speaking and writing.
  • 5+ years of experience in finance functions, including accounting, costing, and/or FP&A.
  • Strong FP&A skills with a solid technical financial background (e.g., accounting, internal control, compliance).
  • Experience in business partnering and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Solid experience with ERP systems (SAP) and Planning systems (BPC preferred).
  • Profound experience with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in process improvement and project management is preferred.
  • Experience in the Pharma industry or Public Accounting is preferred.

Location and Working Environment

This position is based in Northbrook, Illinois, with remote work available from anywhere in the US. Astellas offers a hybrid working solution, allowing flexibility to work from home and connect with colleagues at the office. Hybrid work from certain locations may be permitted in accordance with Astellas’ Responsible Flexibility Guidelines.

Pay

Salary Range: $111,300 - $178,000. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, and organizational equity considerations.
