US CITIZEN ONLY Senior Application Developer (Mainframe)

US Citizen only – 100% fully remote – W2 contract – $55–$68/hr – Monday–Friday, normal business hours (time-zone neutral)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Application Developer with deep mainframe expertise to design, build, and deploy scalable, highly available systems. Candidates must complete the Glider assessment titled “Senior Application Developer (Mainframe)” (12 questions).

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and document COBOL mainframe applications
• Apply algorithmic design, data structures, and design patterns to create robust solutions
• Collaborate in an Agile/Scrum environment using GitLab for source control and CI/CD pipelines
• Adhere to professional software-engineering practices: coding standards, unit testing, code reviews, build processes, and operational support
• Drive continuous improvement in user experience and system usability
• Pursue stretch goals in a fast-paced, innovative setting
• Learn additional programming languages as project needs evolve

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field (Master’s preferred)
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on COBOL mainframe programming
• Proficiency in designing and analyzing algorithms, data structures, and design patterns
• Experience with code documentation and processing
• GitLab experience
