Senior Application Developer

About the Role

Under the general direction of the IT Manager II, the IT Specialist III works independently as the technical expert on the most complex software systems and projects. You will serve as the principal technical architect and subject matter expert for our mission critical Artificial Intelligence (AI) system. You'll operate with high autonomy, leading the end-to-end orchestration of complex artificial intelligence services. The incumbent must maintain confidentiality of information acquired while performing job duties, demonstrate ethical behavior and work cooperatively with others. Travel and/or after-hours support of California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) software applications and systems is required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the principal technical architect and subject matter expert for the mission critical Artificial Intelligence (AI) system
• Lead the end-to-end orchestration of complex artificial intelligence services
• Work independently on the most complex software systems and projects
• Develop the enterprise information technology architecture direction of the organization
• Advise management and executive level staff on governance and policy that support forward movement
• Exercise extensive decision-making authority and direct the most critical/complex projects where the consequence of error may have a serious detrimental effect on the operating efficiency of the organization

Qualifications

• This is the expert advisor level - represents the highest level of expertise available in state service within the Software Engineering, Information Security Engineering, Information Technology Project Management, or System Engineering domains
• Demonstrate strategic technical leadership, influence, and expertise that drive the organization's use of technology toward constant improvements
• Must maintain confidentiality of information acquired while performing job duties
• Must demonstrate ethical behavior and work cooperatively with others
