About the role
The Department of Urology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Urologist to join our growing academic Urology practice serving Buffalo and Western New York. This is a unique opportunity for a Surgeon-Scientist to build a robust urologic oncology practice while advancing innovative translational and laboratory-based research within one of the nation’s premier cancer centers.
Responsibilities
- Dedicate approximately 50% effort toward basic science, translational, and/or clinical research initiatives
- Develop an independent, externally funded research program aligned with institutional priorities
- Collaborate with laboratory scientists, physician-scientists, and multidisciplinary investigators across Roswell Park
- Participate in translational research efforts advancing bladder cancer and GU oncology discovery
- Publish and present scholarly work at national and international academic forums
- Teach and mentor learners across all levels including medical students, residents, fellows, and trainees
- Participate in academic conferences, research mentorship, and institutional educational initiatives
- Foster a collaborative environment emphasizing innovation, scientific rigor, and continuous learning
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary clinics, research programs, and collaborative oncology initiatives
- Engage with Roswell Park’s Men’s Sexual Health Program and integrated supportive care services
- Support a culture aligned with High Reliability Organization principles emphasizing excellence, accountability, compassion, and teamwork
- Provide comprehensive urologic oncology care with a focus on bladder cancer and complex GU malignancies
- Deliver patient-centered surgical and oncologic care utilizing advanced therapies and technologies
- Collaborate closely with medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, and supportive care teams
- Contribute to innovative and evidence-based approaches to GU cancer treatment and survivorship
Requirements
- MD, DO, or equivalent degree with Board Eligibility or Board Certification in Urology
- Strong clinical expertise and interest in urologic oncology with a focus on bladder cancer
- Commitment to multidisciplinary, patient-centered GU oncology care
- Passion for translational research, laboratory investigation, and scientific discovery
- Interest and ability to develop an externally funded independent research program
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across clinical and scientific disciplines
- Passion for mentorship, education, and academic medicine
- Executive presence, intellectual curiosity, and strong communication skills
- Commitment to advancing innovation in GU oncology through research and clinical excellence
