Urgent Care Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Per Diem
Job Summary
We are seeking experienced Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners with urgent care, emergency room experience, or high acute family medicine experience to join our team. Our urgent care Advanced Practitioners provide a wide range of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains, and minor infections. It is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills to recognize more serious conditions and direct patients to the emergency room when necessary.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
- Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
- One (1) year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine or One (1) year of Urgent Care setting experience required
Work Experience
Experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting preferred. Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, casting etc. Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays required. Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Preferred Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
- Strong communication and customer service skills
Essential Functions
- Examining and treating patients
- Taking patients’ medical histories
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
- Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
- Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
- Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
- Education and counseling patients
- Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
- Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care

Per Diem employees must be available to work 3 days in every 28 days block including 1 weekend shift.
