Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant- Per Diem
Job Summary
We are seeking experienced Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners who have urgent care, emergency room experience, or high acute family medicine experience treating both adult and pediatric patients. Our urgent care Advanced Practitioners provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. It is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
- Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
- One (1) year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine or One (1) year of Urgent Care setting experience required
Per Diem Employment
- Available to work 3 days in every 28 days block including 1 weekend shift
Required Licenses/Certifications
- National Certification
- Active state medical licensure
Additional Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting preferred
- Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, casting etc.
- Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays required
- Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required
- Preferred: Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills, Strong communication and customer service skills, Ability to work in an Electronic Medical Records system
Essential Functions
- Examining and treating patients
- Taking patients’ medical histories
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
- Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
- Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
- Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
- Education and counseling patients
- Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
- Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care
