Urgent Care Radiology Technologist

About the Role

This position performs prescribed radiographic procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures, and protocols. The Radiologic Technologist or Patient Treatment Representative (PTR) works alongside a team of Providers, Medical Assistants, and Techs to ensure exceptional patient care while floating throughout clinics in Zone 3. The role involves assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, implementing and evaluating direct patient care, and utilizing specialized knowledge and skills to enhance the patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for exams and treatments by recording vital signs, symptoms, and chief complaints; documents pain scores as appropriate.
• Reports changes in patient condition to clinicians.
• Performs setup, acquisition, and processing of prescribed radiographic procedures following established policies and procedures.
• Educates patients and families regarding procedures and treatments.
• Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures, including taking blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate, performing phlebotomies, ear irrigation, and EKGs.
• Acts as a chaperone as needed.
• Uses universal blood and body fluid precautions and personal protective equipment.
• Prioritizes patient flow through the clinical process.
• Coordinates and manages patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling for clinic, hospital, and ancillary treatments.
• Communicates test results to patients.
• Acts as a resource to clinicians to provide optimal patient care.
• Administers medications in accordance with established policies and procedures or as directed.
• Prepares and maintains accurate documentation, including medical records, labs, authorizations, X-rays, and hospital records.
• Provides complete and accurate billing information in a timely fashion.
• Maintains a clean and functional environment, including exam rooms and storage areas.
• Cleans and disinfects equipment and instruments following sterilization procedures and OSHA guidelines.
• Performs basic maintenance of equipment and coordinates repairs.
• Evaluates equipment quality control measurements.
• Troubleshoots equipment problems and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Orders supplies and stocks patient care areas, monitoring inventory including medications and immunizations.
• Completes on-boarding/orientation activities, including simulation training.
• Ensures efficient operation and workflow of the department by coordinating patient workflow, room set-up, and schedule coordination.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited school of Radiology program.
• National certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• State licensure by the applicable regulatory agency, if required.
• BLS certification required.
• Successful completion of the Banner Health Medical Assistant (MA) competency assessment.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple changing priorities effectively and in an organized fashion.
• Strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduation from an Accredited Medical Assisting Program.
• Experience with office medical procedures, treatments, and knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR, and scheduling software.

Schedule

Full-Time (Three 12-hour shifts per week). Variable schedule; must be available to work any day of the week, including weekends.
