About the role

Job Summary
Urgent care Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. Functioning in lieu of or alongside of a physician, it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.

Responsibilities

Taking patients’ medical histories
Examining and treating patients
Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants, Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
Work Experience: 2-5 years of post-residency clinical experience required, Minimum 18 months experience in applicable practice setting required, Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred
Licenses/Certifications: National Certification, Active state medical licensure

Qualifications

Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills
Strong communication and customer service skills

Skills

Knowledge of applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, etc.
