Connor Co., a company rich in history, is seeking a career-minded individual for a long-term Assistant Branch Manager & Inside Sales position in Urbana, IL. Candidates must be available to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with employees and customers.
  • Meet with manufacturer representatives regularly.
  • Assist sales staff with developing and maintaining customer relations and collections when needed.
  • Attend industry trade shows and product training.
  • Follow directions and work with corporate employees to reach company goals.
  • Supervise training of new hires and enforce all employment policies.
  • Schedule work hours and oversee branch staff to ensure effective utilization of personnel.
  • Identify career paths for qualified and interested candidates.
  • Contribute to the organization’s effectiveness by offering information and opinions as a member of the management team.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, and networking.
  • Maintain correct inventory levels by communicating with the purchasing department.
  • Read blueprints/schematics and accurately interpret customer needs.
  • Work with customers and the outside sales team to offer appropriate solutions.
  • Answer customer questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms.
  • Arrange and direct delivery of products.
  • Assist outside salesman with quotes, orders, submittals, and O&M’s.
  • Consult with clients post-sale to resolve problems and provide ongoing support.
  • Demonstrate products, explain features, and solicit orders from regular and prospective customers.
  • Emphasize product features based on customer needs and technical knowledge.
  • Enhance the organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for new and different requests.
  • Ensure timely order processing and confirmation.
  • Enter sales orders into the Eclipse system and pick customer order tickets.
  • Estimate or quote prices, credit terms, warranties, and delivery dates.
  • Follow up on estimates and bids submitted to customers.
  • Handle incoming customer requests for quotes and product information.
  • Identify prospective customers and develop territories using directories and leads.
  • Manage assigned customer orders from origination to delivery.
  • Merchandise and stock products on displays and in self-service areas.
  • Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors’ products, pricing, and sales.
  • Occasionally visit job sites to troubleshoot unresolved problems.
  • Process warranty claims.
  • Provide the Branch Manager with reports or additional tasks as requested.
  • Provide customers with product brochures, catalogs, and information on the full range of products.
  • Provide post-sales follow-up and technical support, including monitoring shipping and delivery status.
  • Recommend products based on customer needs and interests.
  • Resolve or forward customer complaints.
  • Work with customers, outside sales, and internal/external suppliers to resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., factory, warranty, finance) to answer questions.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong management or supervisory background.
  • Plumbing experience (residential, commercial, industrial).

Skills

  • Ability to learn Eclipse software.
  • Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision and under tight deadlines.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Mathematical reasoning to choose correct methods or formulas.
  • Ability to determine and prioritize workload.

Working Conditions

  • Normal warehouse environment.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.
