Urban Outfitters Merchandise Planning Intern
About the role
Urban Outfitters is looking for a Merchandise Planning intern to join their team this Summer. The merchandising intern works strategically to tell our products story on our e-commerce website through compelling imagery, key words and easy to shop edits.
As part of the URBN 2027 Summer Internship Program, interns immerse themselves within various teams across the portfolio of brands, gaining hands‑on learning experience in their chosen business area. The paid program runs from June 7 through August 13 at the Home Office in Philadelphia, PA and includes intern‑focused events such as exposure to senior leadership in small‑group settings, insight into company initiatives, off‑site field trips, and, for qualifying candidates, the opportunity to interview for a full‑time position.
Responsibilities
- Learn the product lifecycle and the merchandising role in the process
- Organize samples for meetings, photo shoots, and sample closet
- Assist merchandising team with meetings, turnover, emails, and projects
- Partner cross functionally with buying, design, marketing and creative teams
Qualifications
- Ability to prioritize projects and multitask
- Rudimentary understanding of retail math
- Detail oriented and creative thinker
- Strong relationship building skills and ability to work cross functionally
- Retail experience preferred
Skills
- Proficient in Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Project Requirement
In addition to your application and resume, you must submit a Concept Board (8.5 × 11 PDF preferred) at the time of application. Create a board with 3–5 fashion trends you see emerging for the Urban Outfitters customer in Fall 2027, using imagery from blogs, Pinterest, Instagram, runway, etc., to tell a story of future inspirational trends. If you have a portfolio, include links for review.
