Upward Bound/Upward Bound Math & Science Coordinator
About the role
Montana Technological University seeks a full-time coordinator to deliver college preparatory services to Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math Science students in Butte.
Responsibilities
- Tutor students
- Aid students in college and scholarship applications
- Take students on educational experiences
- Support students in goal setting
- Maintain paperwork on services provided to meet federal reporting requirements
- Take an active role in planning and executing an intense 6-week summer academy for participants
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field
- Previous experience with 9th-12th grade students
- Previous experience as a project leader responsible for student-oriented projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- High comfort level with teenage students and advising the adolescent development process
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Clear understanding of Montana post-secondary educational opportunities, admission requirements, application procedures, and financial aid nuances
- Experience working with culturally diverse people in an academic setting
- Experience in working with federal grants
- Experience similar to participants
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift 20-50 pounds
- Ability to ride on a bus or drive a vehicle for extended trips
- Ability to sleep in a tent and accompany students on camping excursions, if necessary
