UPW/IWT Combo Welder/Pipefitter (Taylor, TX) - Austin Industrial
About the role
The Sr. Technician is responsible for prioritizing daily tasks, working independently on new projects or assignments, demonstrating a good understanding of equipment and processes, showing adaptability, and communicating effectively with both customers and supervisors.
Responsibilities
- Assembles pipe sections, tubing, or fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing, or welding equipment
- Extensive knowledge of Poly Pro/PVDF piping and welding
- Reads and understands prints
- Diagnoses and corrects piping issues in the field
Requirements
Education and Experience: - High School Diploma or equivalent and technical school certification preferred (State Plumbing License or equivalent)
Typically requires 5+ years of experience
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to operate necessary tools and equipment
- Knowledge of Ultra-Pure Water (UPW) and Industrial Wastewater (IWT) systems
- Ability to read and understand prints
- Diagnose and correct piping issues in the field
Working Conditions
- Frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals
- Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in outdoor conditions including weather, heat, and humidity
- May work in a clean room
- May need to position oneself in a tight fitting, FAB environment
- May be required to support and/or work shift duties in a 24x7 manufacturing environment
Computer-Based Work & Technical Proficiency
- Extensive use of computers for data entry, documentation, analysis, and internal communication
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, etc.)
- Familiarity with enterprise CMMS (Computer-Aided Maintenance Management System) software and Confluence for daily task management, issue tracking, and collaboration
