This position will support Mirman School’s upper school science program. Job Summary Work with the two Lead Science Teachers to create a flexible and dynamic program favorable to learning and personal growth for highly gifted children; establish effective rapport with students, parents, and colleagues; nurture passions and talents of students; develop each child’s skills, attitudes, and knowledge to establish a strong foundation for middle grade education in accordance with each student’s ability; collaborate and partner with colleagues and the Administration to build, assess, and integrate curriculum across disciplines; foster student success and well-being beyond the classroom. Essential Job Functions: Collaborate and co-teach with the Lead Teachers to plan curriculum and deliver science instruction, including supporting and leading lessons as appropriate and providing coverage when neededManage lab materials with a focus on safety and organization to support classroom curriculum and instructionTeaching or co-teaching electivesApply feedback to teaching practicePerform other school related duties such as lunch / recess supervision, overnight outdoor education trips, and subbingAttend grade level, department, faculty, and professional growth meetingsWork under the mentorship of the Lead Teachers to develop instructional practices, including the use of methods, materials, and technologyCo-advise 12-14 students and support Mirman’s SEL program Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in a science education-related fieldStrong communication and collaboration skillsFlexibility and creativity in working in a dynamic environment exhibiting the qualities of an adult learnerExperience working with children (informal or volunteer work is welcomed)Culturally competent, responsive and engaged community learnerExhibit enthusiasm and commitment to the vision, mission and guiding principles of the school Create a Job Match for Similar Jobs About Mirman School Mirman School opened its doors to educate gifted children in 1962. Motivated by a deep love and concern for these children, Dr. and Mrs. Norman J. Mirman began the school with nine pioneering students in their West Los Angeles home.
